Draftmaster - the easiest way to carry tandems, cargo bikes, and other long 2-wheelers

  • Load long wheelbase bikes with less effort and no high lifting.

  • Specialty Rail sizes are available for long bikes up to 84 inches (213 cm) wheelbase.
    Choose from 63, 76, and 84 inch capacity sizes.     The “xx” in the Sxx and Sxx-TA item codes indicates the maximum recommended wheelbase for each size.

    • Most people will want the 76 inch size. Fits most traditional tandems, some recumbent tandems (including the Rans Screamer), and many cargo bikes.

    • The 63 inch size is great for bikes that are too long to fit directly on the Draftmaster’s Cross Arm Assembly but don’t need the 76 inch size. Fits most delta trikes and compact (medium) wheelbase recumbents.

    • The 84 inch size is for extra long traditional tandems, recumbent tandems (including the Rans Seavo and Volae Venture), and cargo bikes that are too long to fit on the 76 inch size.

  • Sxx series Specialty Rails are sized for 9x100 front fork dropout spacing.
    In other words forks that accept traditional “quick release” wheels with or without disc brakes.
    These are our classic specialty rails. Rated for 50 lb (23 kg) each.

  • Sxx-TA series THRU AXLE Specialty Rails are heavy duty - rated for 100 lb (45 kg) each.
    TA Heads available for thru axle sizes 15x110, 15x100, 12x110, 12x100, and traditional 9x100 QR forks.
    Our unique direct mount system eliminates the roll-over problem of thru axle adapters.
    The TA Head can be swapped out if your axle size changes.
    Fully compatible with disc brakes - of course!

  • All Sxx and Sxx-TA series Specialty Rails are adjustable length so you can optimize them for your bike & car.

  • Bikes are held vertically so there is never any overhang past the side of your vehicle.

  • Avoid frame and paint damage. No awkward cradles, clamping arms or J-hooks.

  • Carry multiple tandems or other long bikes at the same time using multiple S rails - up to 200 lb max on the Draftmaster.

    • Your vehicle/receiver may limit how much you can carry to less than the Draftmaster’s capability. We recommend no more than ½ your receiver’s tongue load capacity including the weight of the Draftmaster and bikes on it.

  • Mix & match cycle styles. Carry tandems, recumbents, singles, cargo bikes, and trikes on the same Draftmaster.

 

Options for your Draftmaster with Sxx and Sxx-TA rails

  • Topper Lok security skewer with long-throw cam. Lock your bike to the rack.

  • Front Wheel Carrier holds up to four wheels. Hides away when not in use.

  • Security Hitch Bolt. Lock your Draftmaster to your car.

  • Secondary Fork Mount. Adapt Sxx or Sxx-TA module to carry a shorter wheelbase bike.

  • Wheel Tray Adapter Kit. Converts a Specialty Rail position on your Cross Arm Assembly to carry a “short” bike when your Specialty Rail is removed.
