Draftmaster - the best way to carry a trike on your car

Carrying Tadpole trikes

• Draftmaster’s STT module is designed for the unique carrying requirements of tadpole trikes. STT stands for Specialty Rail for Tadpole Trikes.

• Fits most tadpole trikes including Catrike, ICE, HP Velotechnik, TerraTrike, Greenspeed, Azub (some), Trident (some), Sun, SunSeeker, etc.

• Five-point support confidently secures your trike in place

• Adjustable to fit your trike perfectly.

• Our STT module can be adjusted to customize the height and width of its trike support arms to optimize it for your trike.

• A few tadpole trikes will benefit from using our MK-STT-1 kit to adjust the angle of the STT’s support arms. The MK-STT-1 kit is recommended for use with our STT module for the following trikes:

• Azub T-Tris 20/26

• Azub Tricon 20/26

• Catrike Max

• Trident Spike

• Our STT module is rated for up to 50 lbs (23 kg) per trike. Most trikes fit within this limit even if they are motorized. If your trike is motorized, you will want to remove the battery for transport. This helps if your trike is unusually heavy because we care about what your trike weighs when you put it on the Draftmaster, not when you ride it. You can easily carry 2 trikes on your Draftmaster since the Draftmaster as a whole is rated for up to 200 lb.

• Your vehicle/receiver may limit how much you can carry to less than the Draftmaster’s capability. We recommend no more than ½ your receiver’s tongue load capacity including the weight of the Draftmaster and bikes on it.

Carrying Delta trikes

• Delta trikes use a front fork and rear wheels mounting system for simple, secure loading.
  In other words, delta trikes are carried on a Draftmaster the same way that two-wheeled bikes are carried - by hanging them from the front fork. The main difference is that our delta trike configurations have two wheel trays offset to the right and left for the rear wheels of the trike.

• Recumbent delta trikes have a wheelbase long enough to need one of our Sxx series Specialty Rails - or Sxx-TA series if your delta trike has a front thru axle.

• If your delta trike’s wheelbase is between 48-63 inches (122-160 cm), you will want the S63 or S63-TA Specialty Rail.

• If your delta trike’s wheelbase is between 64-76 inches (161-193 cm), you will want the S76 or S76-TA Specialty Rail.

• The Draftmaster’s load rating for delta trikes using an Sxx Specialty Rail is 50 lbs (23 kg), or 100 lbs (45 kg) if using an Sxx-TA Specialty Rail rails - up to 200 lb max on the Draftmaster.

• Your vehicle/receiver may limit how much you can carry to less than the Draftmaster’s capability. We recommend no more than ½ your receiver’s tongue load capacity including the weight of the Draftmaster and bikes on it.

• Delta trikes with a wheelbase shorter than 48 inches (122 cm) can be mounted directly to fork mounts on the Draftmaster’s Cross Arm Assembly without using a Specialty Rail.

Options for your Draftmaster with trike modules

• MK-STT-1 kit - A few tadpole trikes will benefit from using our MK-STT-1 kit to adjust the angle of our STT module’s support arms. See above. For details.

• Topper Lok security skewer with long-throw cam. Lock your bike to the rack. (Not applicable to tadpole trikes since you leave the front wheels on the trike.)

• Front Wheel Carrier holds up to four wheels. Hides away when not in use. (Not applicable to tadpole trikes since you leave the front wheels on the trike.)

• Security Hitch Bolt. Lock your Draftmaster to your car.

• Extra long 300 mm wheel tray kits. For those rare instances where a little extra tray length is needed - for the front wheels of tadpole trikes or rear wheels of delta trikes.

• Fat-tire wheel tray kits. For tires wider than 2.5 inches - for the front wheels of tadpole trikes or rear wheels of delta trikes.

• Wheel Tray Adapter Kit. Converts a Specialty Rail position on your Cross Arm Assembly to carry a “short” bike when your Specialty Rail is removed.
